Tuesday Oct 12, 2021
E130:
After speaking with so many people from so many places it’s great to speak to another creative near my home again but when you hear his story you’ll hear many places far away from it. On this episode we speak with author, hasher, and paintball aficionado Dave Norman. We speak on creating an income from what you love starting as kid by adding value and understanding where and how the money moves in the business to place yourself in it. We talk on traveling and taking an opportunity when it comes to you instead of letting it pass by. How cities become really cool from art then because of that exact creation become too expensive for artists to live in like many other unfortunate cycles. Great episode for authors, writers, travelers, and of course creatives trying to make a living doing what they love.

- How to pitch articles
- Figuring out how to make a living off your craft
- Creating the gig
- Add value
- Seeing how it works and finding a way to get involved

- Taking the opportunity as it happens
- City gentrification and population movements in the art community
- Say yes

You saw this is how it works, this is where they are adding value. These are what I’ll do to join those and bring something to the community as well!” - Host Dave Swillum
“There’s a clear but not easily defined line between being stubborn and good self advocacy.” - David Norman
“If you bought the ticket, take the ride, ride it till the end as long as it’s ethical to others, who cares what others think.” - David Norman

Tuesday Sep 21, 2021
E127:
Youngest hiker to complete the famous hiking “triple crown”. Today we talk on the outdoors and how you can always go back to a job but can’t always knock out everything on your vision board or your dreams if you don’t make a plan. Jeff is the author behind the book “Free Outside” and speaks to what matters and what doesn’t, who we are in nature and in social experiments in society, What we need verses what we want, and overall going after being free outside. You’ll hear his story behind becoming an outdoor blogger and the real facts behind surviving financially and building the life you want when you want it. Plenty of way out there deep conversation on world constructs but also lots of very digestible tips to help creatives, entrepreneurs, and freelancers go after what they love too! I need to figure out where I’m getting water, where I’m resupplying food, where I’m camping. Beyond that the world is so flexible.” - Jeff Garmire
“When you go to nature you are removing your self. There’s no other stupid shit happening there in nature. Everything either has a function, or the animals have a thing they are trying to get done or survive. Humans are so smart we do things that get in our own way of basic survival because of what we come up with. All of the the things we’ve done to create society have changed that. - Host Dave Swillum

Why I 100% NEVER Pass A Lemonade Stand W/ Host Dave Swillum
Tuesday Sep 14, 2021
Tuesday Sep 14, 2021
E126:
Take a step back from the longer interview content to have a glass of lemonade. Did you ever have a lemonade stand as a child? What did that mean to you then and what does that part of your story mean now? In this brief episode I speak on the value I see in that as an early experiment of teaching children entrepreneurial traits and business principles young and go into some in depth of how I made additional income streams when I was younger to get to the goals I had then. Have you ever had some things you did as a kid that seem more a part of you now that you look back at the trait before you got to where you are? We often reveal little bread crumbs about who we are going to become through choices and ways to figure things when we are younger but it’s not always obvious when we are making them at that point. What was your lemonade stand then and what is it now? I always stop at every lemonade stand, I want people to understand as early as possible they can create ways to make income and do what is enjoyable for them with hard work.
In This Episode We Cover
- Common traits of young entrepreneurs / creatives
- Why lemonade stands mean something more
- Raising children with entrepreneurial challenges
- Scarcity forms creation
- Investing what you have to make more
- Seeing young traits in ourselves when we are older
- Learning to create your own income
- Finding ways to make something you want happen
Quotes
“You 100% at all times, no matter what you’re doing have to stop for a lemonade stand, 100%.” - Host Dave Swillum

Finding Your Own Voice & Creating Your Own Niche W/ Tarot Coach Skye Marinda
Tuesday Sep 07, 2021
Tuesday Sep 07, 2021
E125:
Using your creative background to create a business that supports people is a great thing! Today we speak to Skye Marinda who is a Tarot Coach from D.C. Not sure what that is? I wasn’t either because she made it with the tools and super powers she has. Coming from a background in art school and a love for Tarot reading she works with people in Tarot as a medium to gain confidence in themselves and work through their thoughts internally. She has given over 400 readings and 100 workshops worldwide. You don’t have to know anything about Tarot readings to love this episode because I didn’t know anything while interviewing! Great insight on creating a creative business drawing from social DM’s, using your artistic background in new ways, running events in new spaces, and external judgement on your creative business. Let us know what you think of the conversation!
In This Episode We Cover
- Using tools for self reflection
- Making a niche
- Using your art background in new ways
- Going through different phases
- How much society values art
- Keeping arts strong
- Using spaces to run events for free
- Interacting with customers coming from social feeds
- Getting used to working with strangers as clients
- Seeing others do well
- Find your own voice
- The coaching model
- Parental pressure to have you get a “normal job”
Quotes
“I truly believe that creative is just a different thing we make it out to be. That subjectiveness, that way of interpretation, a way to see a story and go through something is creativity to me.” - Host Dave Swillum
“I feel like a lot of times people feel like you should be charging high prices for what you do, not that you shouldn’t charge money but I definitely used that first year to see what’s it like to do business with people on instagram and Tik Tok, and all over the place to get a feel for it.” - Skye Marinda
“Getting started is the hardest hurdle to get past.” - Skye Marinda

Managing Your Relationship With $ Money $: What is it really? W/ Dave Swillum
Tuesday Aug 24, 2021
Tuesday Aug 24, 2021
E123:
Your relationship with money dictates your decision making process and your mood so it’s important for any creative or business owner to manage. I’ve been unhealthy and healthy with my perspective on money in many different ways over my life transitions. When you don’t have a lot sometimes it comes out of anger because you can’t get what you need at the time, when you have more sometimes it comes from still not wanting to spend it and more importantly not spending it on the right things or things that fill your cup. On this episode we talk about some things to look out for that may be unhealthy ways of looking at what money is and it’s purpose and talk through some ways to manage a better relationship with it. Money is an energy and a vehicle but nothing more. Everything else we develop in our world around it on our journey is something different. Let’s start cultivating a great relationship on what money really boils down to so we can make the best decisions on our mission and get the biggest impact from life.
In This Episode We Cover
- Your relationship with money dictates your decision making process
- Money is energy
- Difference between broke and poor
- F U Money
- Decisions not based out of fear
- Stopping reactionary decision making
- Controlling natural human - animal instincts
- I tell me what I’m doing
- Frugality: Fighting how cheap I can be
- Buying things that don’t matter sometimes
- Your “rich life”
Quotes
“Money is energy, money is a vehicle…….that’s all.” - Host Dave Swillum
“I’m giving energy up, so what am I getting that gives energy back to me? If it doesn’t I’m probably not going to buy it.” - Host Dave Swillum
“You give up a lot to go after your passion in a real way” - Host Dave Swillum

One of the biggest challenges in the way of so many going after their dreams in creative and business is their overhead cost of living and fixed overhead. With the ability for their unit to be shipped in a typical driving standard without oversize and get the results approved by building code ahead of time they are able to bring a new solution to the market to help with this bottle necking. If you want to see one of the first three units out so far look no further than Tesla and Space X CEO Elon Musk’s Boxabl Casita in Starbase Boca Chica, TX !
We speak through their first model “Casita” an ADU accessory dwelling unit, the housing market and modern living method for Americans and many around the world for the future and much more. Overhead cost of living, living alternatives, assessing risk in an optimistic way, and solving problems so people can live better lives and pursue their passions too.
